A tamarind is a fruit with a shell, peel and seeds. It is tricky to prepare so this paste is a convenient way to spoon the flavour into your dish. It has an unusual flavour; a sweetness yet with a strong overtaking of what can only be described as bitter lemon.
Tamarind is a common ingredient in Asian cooking. It can be added to many sauces such as sweet & sour sauce, curries, salad dressings, and dips such as barbeque sauce or sweet chilli.
Once opened keep refrigerated and use within 1 month.
We may substitute this product, depending on stock availability, for another tamarind concentrate that has the same ingredients as well as citric acid. Please feel free to email ahead of placing an order to ask us which is available.
